Prime Minister made this bold statement on Friday 15 September during a media press conference at Manasupe Haus, Waigani in Port Moresby.
“Let us all Papua New Guineans rise up and develop this country through respecting the rule of law that has been set to govern this nation,” PM Marape said.
“The nation has come along way in its development through health, education, infrastructure and lawlessness.”
“This is my first request for all of us when we are celebrating PNG 48th Independence.”
PM Marape further said respecting the rule of law is what we can do for our country as we look forward for the 50th Golden Jubilee Anniversary in 2025.
He also called upon all the sons of this nation to respect their mothers, wife, sisters and daughters and keep away from violence allowing the law to take its full cause.
Prime Minister Marape further urged all sons and daughters of this nation to respect each other and stop violence amongst themselves and violence towards foreigners.
Mr Marape’s Independence Address to the nation was delivered by Minister for Treasury, Hon. Ian Ling-Stuckey, on Independence Hill on Saturday 16 September 2023.
