“The first-ever National Media Development Policy for Papua New Guinea has been completed and will be presented to the National Executive Council. The policy, themed “A New Era of Media Excellence,” recognizes the vital role of media in the democratic sovereign state and commits to ensuring media quality, accessibility, and responsibility in information dissemination. The policy is a result of extensive consultations, research, and surveys, with a focus on media quality and mobilization. It aims to establish a National Media Commission and a Government Media Advisory Committee to oversee media-related issues. The policy emphasizes the need for responsible journalism, professionalism, and media accountability for the greater good of the public and national development.
