Cyber Safety refers to the safe and responsible use of information and communication technology. It is about keeping information safe and secure, but also about being responsible with that information, being respectful of other people online, and using good ‘netiquette’ (internet etiquette).
Department of ICT goal is to promote an effective cyber service for the Digital economy priority with the objective to ensure an effective Digital safety system to protect public interest against cyber space abuse.
A key step in developing a thriving ICT ecosystem is to provide PNG consumers and businesses with the confidence they need to undertake transactions online. It is here where the DICT will work closely with all agencies to assist them in improving their cyber hygiene, increase their awareness of cyber threats, and provide resources to help agencies ensure that critical infrastructure and services are protected. DICT will work closely within the basic and higher and technical education sector to increase awareness of digital safety, cyber awareness, data privacy and data protection.
