The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary (RPNGC) to collaborate in the digital space.
Through a Term of Reference (T.O.R. ), the two government agencies will collaborate to establish technical working groups for e-policing and cyber cooperation.
Attending this significant event was Minister for Internal Security Hon Peter Tsiamalili Jnr, Police Commissioner David Manning, DICT Secretary Steven Matainaho and executive members of RPNGC.
DICT Secretary Matainaho in his remarks during the signing ceremony said the department is only giving technical support to partner up with RPNGC and solve issues.
According to Secretary Matainaho, the department is gradually digitizing the government system to improve services for the public by reducing costs and increasing efficiency.
Police Commissioner David Manning also emphasized the advantages of the initiative for the public and thanked DICT for working with RPNGC.
The Department of Information and Communications Technology during the signing ceremony presented a prototype on the police clearance online application that will be introduced soon.
This significant MOU signed today will be beneficial to both DICT and RPNGC.
